Conversational Analytics

Conversational analytics is a natural-language interface for querying structured business data directly, replacing dashboards and static reports with a chat-style question-and-answer experience.

Also known as: conversation analytics, conversational BI

· Chain of Thought

Traditional BI requires knowing which dashboard or report answers a given question, or knowing enough SQL to ask it directly — a barrier that keeps most business users dependent on data analysts. Conversational analytics removes that barrier by letting someone type a question in plain language and get an answer pulled directly from underlying data sources, without needing to know the data’s shape or location in advance.

The pattern goes further than ad hoc lookup: answers can be turned into shareable outputs or trigger downstream workflows, and can be extended with reusable domain ‘skills’ (like a defined approach to cohort analysis) so the same question gets answered consistently across a team.
